Lovat Tweed Men’s Sports Jacket, Chequered

The robust tweed fabric impresses with its elegant olive tone in combination with the striking red-orange overcheck. It comes from the traditional weaving mill Lovat Mill in Hawick, Scotland, on the banks of the River Teviot. The tweed is extremely durable and with its 640 g/rm (21 oz.) weight belongs to the traditional »Gamekeeper Tweeds«. The elegant, intricately crafted jacket has a three-button front placket, two flap pockets, billet and breast pockets and four practical inside pockets. Details such as the elbow patches made from the finest goat suede, the colour-contrasting undercollar, braided leather buttons and the orange viscose duchesse lining skilfully complete the authentic design. The premium cut with two side slits ensures an optimal fit, comfort and an attractively slim silhouette. The Teflon coating of the outer fabric makes this sports jacket dirt-repellent and therefore ideal for formal hunts.The function of the gamekeeper dates back about 200 years, when in 1848 Queen Victoria and Prince Albert acquired Balmoral Castle and popularised classical hunting. Since gamekeepers worked outdoors in all weathers, their clothes had to be robust and weatherproof. Even then, clothing made of tweed fabric fulfilled this requirement perfectly - it is extremely hard-wearing, keeps warm and protects against rain.
