Filson Mackinaw Wool Double Coat

The Filson Double Coat is made of durable Mackinaw wool and is reinforced on the shoulders and arms with a layer of waxed cotton, the Tin Cloth. This combination offers excellent protection against rain and snow while allowing good breathability. The densely woven 24-ounce Mackinaw wool is particularly windproof and durable. One practical advantage of this wool is its easy care - dried dirt can be effortlessly brushed off without leaving any trace.The Tin Cloth, Filson’s signature fabric, is an essential part of the Filson DNA and has been processed for over 100 years. This cotton with its dense weave structure provides optimal protection against the elements, especially due to its remarkable ability to almost self-seal in the rain. When the fibres swell, the fabric seals almost perfectly, effectively keeping moisture out.The Double Coat is based on the classic Mackinaw Wool Cruiser, patented in 1914 and specifically designed for loggers in the Pacific Northwest. With four generous patch pockets and a convenient back pocket originally designed as a map pocket for loggers, the jacket offers practical storage options. In addition, it features a detachable hood made of Tin Cloth fabric with a warming Mackinaw wool lining to provide extra protection against wind and bad weather.
