Pia Strehn Blaufränkisch Rosé, 750 ml

The vinification: This refreshingly light and zesty rosé is crafted from 100 % Blaufränkisch grapes, indigenous to Central Burgenland in Austria. The grapes destined for this wine thrive in the cool microclimates atop parabrown earths underlain by a calcareous stratum. Nestled amidst the protective embrace of the Bucklige Welt in the west, the Ödenburg Mountains to the north, and the Güns Mountains to the south, the region is blessed with at least 300 days of sunshine annually and a modest rainfall of around 600 mm, cultivating the perfect climatic conditions for a wine of remarkable aromatic intensity. Harvesting is done by hand with meticulous care in the early morning hours, no later than 11:00 am, to shield the grapes from the intense heat of midday. Following harvest, the whole grapes undergo a gentle pressing, true to traditional methods, without extracting the juice. The spontaneous fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, followed by a four-month maturation on the fine lees, imparting the Blaufränkisch rosé with its signature flavour profile.Tasting notes: Its brilliant, delicate pink hue with orange accents captivates the eye instantly and piques curiosity. The aroma is a fresh burst of citrus, underscored by the exotic note of prickly pear and rounded out by gentle hints of peach, strawberry, and the freshness of meadow herbs. On the palate, a vibrant fruitiness unfolds, perfectly balanced by a well-integrated acidity and a creamy body. The finish is enduring, marked by fine tannins and a lively, effervescent freshness that tantalises, beckoning for the next sip!Food pairings: This wine is the ideal accompaniment to grilled fish and seafood dishes, risotto with root vegetables and gremolata, as well as an asparagus salad enhanced with raspberry vinegar. To allow its full bouquet of aromas to unfold, we recommend serving the wine chilled at 8-10 °C.
