Quinta do Pégo Port, LBV 2014, 750 ml

The Late Bottled Vintage is, as the name suggests, a late-bottled Vintage Port. This means that instead of being bottled after two years, it is bottled after four to six years of barrel ageing. Sensual, velvety deep ruby red with lively reflections. On the nose, an elegant fragrance with a fine intensity of pickled and candied dark fruits - led by sweet plums - paired with subtle notes of wild flowers. Harmonious and powerful palate with a smooth texture. The taste, fresh and elegantly dominated by plums, is complemented by beautiful nuances of red fruits and a hint of wild herbs. The sweetness is excellently integrated, and the port appears intensely aromatic and fresh due to its silky but powerful tannins and its pleasant, noticeable acidity. Drunk young, it has a concentrated expression of fruit; if you prefer it more mature and mellow, you should allow it to mature for a few more years in the bottle.The food:
This port by Colheita should be served chilled. It is ideal on its own as an after-dinner digestif or to accompany foie gras, Roquefort (or other aromatic cheeses), chocolate, candied fruit, fruit and ice cream desserts.
